goes bump in the right

i have a bump sound coming from my front right side suspension. the suspension was recently rebuilt with bigger t-bara and elephant bushings. i have searched past threads and found the method of fixing a worn cross member, a shock tower issue and dont believe its any of those things.

this noise seems to be coming from the front of the control arm, and seems to be a torsion bar banging around. has anyone experienced a noise t-bar at the front mount? i have again read the threads on a welded bead on the height adjustment/control arm contact area and think im good there. any ideas as to what might be a fix?

additional info to assist in your cure is that this was not a problem prior to the alignment and CB after the rebuild. i drove probally 20 miles post rebuild w/o any such noise.

thank you in advance.

i can not thank you guys enough for the overwelming support offered to me in this thread. your sharing of ideas and knowledge was priceless and i thank you for all the help. tongue in cheek.

well, i will share with the group my method of solving this problem as to possibly enlighten anyone in the future that may encounter this issue.

it was infact the front a-arm mount that was causing the "bump in the right". i isolated this by jacking the car up with a jack pad in the factory rocker slot. i then took my second floorjack under the right side front wheel and applied it under the wheel. by jacking i was able to recreate the noise. i then loosen the front mount bolts one at a time, tightening before loosening the next, as not not lose an alignment.

after recreating the noise a few times i applied the jack and "exercised" the suspension. i raised the wheel and a-arm by moving the jack up and down, no more that say 10 to 15 degree radius from the suspension in a jacked up state, sagging. i figured anymore than this might be beyond the radius limits of the suspension. it seems to have "seated" the torsion bar in the front mount and the noise went away. i took it out for a spin thinking it would come back after the suspension was worked in a real world situation. no noise, it to this point has not returned after the 10 mile drive.

thanks again and i hope this information is helpful to some lost soul like me in the future.

since it was okay to start with it sounds like something worked loose.

did you have the struts apart for inserts? i changed mine and now have an insert banging around in the strut (i can move the insert side to side) that i am having trouble fixing. i tried tightening the strut cap.

since you did the bushings its not worn bushings. ball joint on arm?

best thing to do is get the front up and try and move things around to replicate the noise.

i did new t-bars, ball joints, and bushings, including, sways, a-arm and strut tower. the inserts were done a couple years ago with some billies. it was not a shock tower bolt.

you past threads that i read in the search area were very helpful.

it was the front t-bar mount, i was able to isolate it as you suggest. the
"exercising" fix was dumb luck.
