Exclamation 1986 brake light switch?

Need some help locating the Brake light switch for my 86 carrera. I tried the Haynes guide, but either they're information was wrong for the year, or I have an odd ball car! at any rate it takes quite a stand on the pedal to get the lights to activate, which is unnerving for several reasons, tickets, rear ender, ect...Thanks in advance!

The switches are located on the side of the master cylinder. There are two. Our host sells them. You should replace both while you're in there. One of them is a bit of a PITA to get out, but this is an easy DIY job overall.

Good luck!

You'll need to check to see if they're two-pole or three-pole switches so you can order the correct ones.

Chris.

I just did mine. You'll need to remove some duct work and they are a bit of a pain to get to but the job is do-able. A friend of mine taught me a trick: depress (and hold) the brake pedal slightly when you remove each switch and not fluid comes out at all. Remember that brake fluid is bad-nsaty stuff. You may want to do a brake flush while you are at it.
