I had a friend who got caught doing 100mph but luckily for him the cop never showed up in court.

He can start by calling some lawyers to see what they can do, possibly nothing.

He must have P.O.'ed the cop, when I got pulled over in new G. Red Porsche doing 100+, the cop wrote me for 90 because over 100 is much more serious.

Just curious, did he have a V-1?

Find out the officers day off, schedule your court date then and when he doesn't show...

106 mph....without protection/V1?

Oh boy...Talk to an attorney to try and minimize the penalties. I believe this is considered Reckless driving therefore suspension of license is mandatory with possible slammer time.

Did they tow his/her vehicle and confiscate his/her license on the spot?

By the way, how do you get caught driving that fast? What was the HP driving to cach up at that speed?

Good luck.....

"By the way, how do you get caught driving that fast?"

If you drive on the freeways here in CA, you can find yourself in the
area of 85-90mph, and still keeping pace with traffic. So, ~106 is not
too hard to imagine, really. . .

I had a buddy who got pulled over drving his 86 911 leaving Burbank at 2:00 AM doing 90 just a tad more than traffic, He was written up for Speeding, Unsafe lane change and failure to signal. When he showed up to court to pay the fine the judge asked where his ATTY was. Told him to come back with one since this was considerd a criminal matter. He ended up spending $1500 for the Attny, $2500 fine and 30 days picking up trash on the side of the freeway. Apperntyly the three moving vilations made it a criminal offense. I am not sure what the threshold for criminal speeding is in CA but I bet 106 is above it. I suggest you consult an attny. I know my buddies law firm partner represented him. If you need my buddy's name is Michael D. Burt and he practices in LA. He is a good guy, we grew up together. Tell him Aaron Raine sent you.

BTW: My friend was happier with this than the 30 days in county jail that was being offerd.

Don. I know that's the case on some of the stretches of fwy, but I HARDLY ever see much 'traffic' doing 90. If you are doing over a hundred, you know you're going fast and your'e taking a chance on a ticket.

Like on Rufblackbird's thread, I'd find the prosecuting attorney for that particular jurisdiction and plead it down to the next lesser charge and hope it is within the realm of being able to go to driver's school. If this is a 2nd or 2rd ticket and the school is not an option, then what the hell was he doing 106 for anyway?

The attorney will pretty much do the same and take big money. I've never had a DUI, but I think that's when you pay the attorney. They ain' no school for that.

Looks like if this is the first offence and you had no other violations cited you can pay the $500 and loose your licence for 30 days. Or get the attny. But the threshold is 100 MPH.

also suspend the privilege of the person to operate a motor vehicle
for a period not to exceed 30 days pursuant to Section 13200.5.
(2) Upon a conviction under this subdivision of an offense which
occurred within three years of a prior offense resulting in a
conviction of an offense under this subdivision, by a fine of not to
exceed five hundred dollars ($500). The person's privilege to
operate a motor vehicle shall be suspended by the Department of Motor
Vehicles pursuant to subdivision (a) of Section 13355.
