Help replacing rear shocks
I am in trying to install new rear shocks in my SC. While I am turning the lock nut on the top, the shaft is spinning. Does anybody have any ideas on how to stop it from spinning.....
Thanks

Impact or grip the shaft w/ vice grips - can pad with rag

Does the top of the shock shaft (where the nut goes on) look like an allen wrence will fit?

The old strut should have either an allen head on the shaft or a sort of square head. Either way you need to keep the shaft steady from the top while you tighten the nut. A 17mm? ratcheting box wrench makes this much easier as there isn't a lot of room.

Thanks! I got the old ones off. I am having a heck of a time putting the new ones in. Not alot of room. I don't remember what the new shafts look like but I will figure something out.

My new Bilstein's had a socket at the very top that required an allen wrench to hold the shock and prevent it from turning while I tightened the nut.

911Brian,
I replaced my rear shocks while I had the engine dropped so it was easy. I also replaced the engine compartment sound pad and the motor mounts and rear engine bracket, as well as all fuel lines and vacuum hoses.
