Another Porsche accident...

Just got this from my buddy Jim Alton:

Quote:
On his way home after taking first place in the Porsche 911 class at the Palos Verdes Concours d’Elegance with his 1969 Porsche 911 GT, Freeman Thomas was involved in a head-on collision. The accident was on Pacific Coast Highway, one block east of Narbonne (I think this intersection is Oak Street) in Lomita.

I came upon the scene not more than two minutes after the incident; both drivers were standing by their cars, using cellular phones and apparently uninjured. However, both cars had significant front end damage and the 911’s windshield had popped out and lay on the street a few feet in front of the Porsche.

The cars were in their respective left lanes: the Porsche headed eastbound and a car driven by a young woman westbound. I would speculate that one car had attempted a left turn.

I really just know Freeman by his car, and the drivers appeared unhurt, so I didn’t stop and add to the congestion.

Wow! I really don't know what to say. Sorta speechless. You know if it took 1st place.........well, any loss is a loss, but ........like I said speechless. I really do hope Freeman is OK physically.

Mentally, well, I'd be dying inside. So very, very sorry.

Harry, yes, I think it is.

Oh no! I do think Freeman knows somebody who can give advice on dealing with insurance adjustors. I'm also glad to know nobody was hurt. But, Gawd...This his black car? Or, the one in Excellence? Either way...Oh no!

Both drivers standing by their cars is good news (no major injuries). Hopefully some of the other motorists in the congestion may have witnessed and/ or taken some photos for the parties involved. I got a chance to see the orange 911 (F. Thomas) at the Art Center Classic over the summer and was impressed with the attention to all of the period/date details.

wow, I just finished reading the excellence article literally seconds before going on the computer and reading this. I was just thinking to myself, wow Thomas is one lucky guy, amazing car. Terrible news hope he wasn't hurt. Hope it doesn't get him down too much.

oh man...

wow....i spent most of the last hour at GAF learning about this car from Thomas's father. It was probably my favorite of the show....very shocking news. I hope Thomas and the other driver are in good shape and hopefully uninjured. What a beautiful car that was.... literally perfect.

I was with Freeman most of the day and I didn't find out about this until I got home and saw this post, I took these pic's about ten minutes before the accident, I'm glad to here everyone is OK, having been in a bad one I know what it feels like but as they say, cars can be replaced, people can't.

Crap man, that is too bad. Fortunately the people are okay. Dead cars can be rebuilt, dead people can't. Very glad to hear about people who walk away from stuff like that, doesn't happen often enough!
