How do I get Nice Spark Plug Routing Accomplished?
How can I have my spark plug wires look more attractive?
I have an 82 SC with the shielded wire set-up, it just looks to messy. The ignition set-up is stock. I think I saw a posting were someone said that the shielding is unnecessary. I see some people have the wires perfectly seperated going right over the fan strap. How do they do that? Do I have to make my own and order the wire and connectors seperate so that I can make the lengths perfect? If anyone has a good picture of what I am talking about please post it. Thanks,

I built my own, from MSD, the "universal" 6 cyl kit.
It's really easy to do (and cheap), they even give you a crimper for the lead ends. The only down side is that the plug end boots are a little short, so I had to make a sheet metal "claw" to yank the boots off. I found out later that the VW type 4 spark plug end is almost identical to the Berut, complete with the rubber air seal (maybe I'll convert some day. Also I found that the longest lead in the kit was just long enough, if you shortcut under the intake manifold. You can always buy bulk wire and all the connectors and boots separate. You don't need shielded wire. Anyway, here's a pic. ![]()

Ya, lets get some more pictures of that engine!
No need for the shielded. I like the magnecore wires. My routing isn't as pretty as the picture above, but it is good enough for me. I used small black electrical ties to keep them together. You can buy collectors from autozone, but they looked too small for the magnecores so I stuck with the electrical ties. ![]()

Al,
Do you have an MSD ignition? I'd like to see more of your engine too. Both of you guys have nice clean engines, way better looking without the nasty shields. Let's keep the pictures coming!

Those engines are super clean. But this is what I am talking about except mine is not a twin plug set up.

Good Lord! I'm embarrased to have my engine on the same page as those two! You could eat off of them.
My father's 88 Carrera has plug wire brackets buit into the wires that attach to the fan schroud. They came with the OEM wires to the tune of $250. Although they look very nice, I am content with the way mine look

PAG makes at least two types of plug wire brackets.
I just tossed a bag in the trash from one style.... here it is: 901.609.591.00 don't have a pic. |

At what point does bundling create cross-talk of wire pulses ?
Maybe we can get away with that if certain cyl numbers are bundled..noting the firing order?? Or can we bundle any of the six together?? Wil
