Oil Cooler install side hose question??

I currently have a 72' 911 with a front fender mount oil cooler.

I did not like the look of the old braided lines down the side of the car, they were too large and just plain UGLY.

Has anyone replaced the hoses on the side of the car with smaller pipes under the car, similar to the Elephant Racing finned lines?

What is the risk of hittlig the lines if they are too far under the car?

Does anyone have suggestions for hiding the hoses??

If you have pics of your install please post.

Not trying to hijack this thread, but I have a new set of the front flex hoses for the '69 to '73 cars with the two battery boxes. I also have the short oil hose (new) for the oil tank, unique to the '72. Otherwise, your oil lines sound like they are aftermarket, not factory. The factory ones were brass from the thermostat to the flex hoses at the front cooler. The lines for the '72 were unique & maybe the cooler was installed as an add-on originally.

Yes, Elephant has a set for use on the '72. The factory '72 lines are NLA.

The Elephant '72 lines have male threaded fitting on the back end so you can make final connections to thermostat and tank with flex hose (as the factory did).

Elephant seems to be the easiest and smartest choice for this.

You can run flexi lines through the rockers themselves. It had been done with the dealer-installed AC lines on my 72, so we ran the oil lines through the same space when we pulled the old AC setup.

I like the look of no plumbing on the outside of the car. But I have to acknowledge that the cooling system works better with the lines exposed to the airflow, and Elephant's finned lines are that much better.

Gratuitous side picture:

For those who may be thinking about fabricating copper lines. Copper will crack if it has a solid mount where vibration is transmitted to/through it. I learned this in my old VW days.

Jack that is a fabulous looking car. I'd park it in the living room myself...
