Help me find a shop in Calif.
I need smone help here. I have a friend who needs to find a competent shop in or around Oakland, Santa Rosa, Berkley (sp) or Santa Rosa. I am not sure how close all these places are as my California geography is not very good but he passes through or is close to these places often. He needs to have some diagnostic work done on his 83 SC. Any help here with a recommendation would be greatly appreciated.

Call John at Valhalla Automotive in Lafayatte, CA. (East of Oakland, before Walnut Creek). 925 284 2844
He's been at the same shop since the early '70s; is well versed in the air-cooled cars and is as honest as they come.

If you want one closer to Santa Rosa there's Hi Tech Automotive in San Rafael. I only did a PPI there but they seem to know their stuff and had a nice clean garage, if that means much.

If the car's Santa Rosa there's Tillmans. www.tillmansgermancar.com I've used them in past and think its a great shop.

i second Hi-tec in San Rafael. Deven is as nice and as knowledgeable as they come. very honest, and very good.

He has a place in Middletown (17 miles North of Calistoga) and an office in Berkeley.
BTW if you ever find yourself near Calistoga take the Lake County Highway 20 to Middletown. One of the best roads on the Planet for your P-Car jollies.
