TonyG is very all right
Found that TonyG lives about a mile from me a week or two ago and today he and I tried to charge my new A/C system. Four condensors and ten hoses. He has the gauges and the vacuum pump. Massive air leak on pump down. Hardly know Tony and yet he was adamant about us trying to find the leak. I was willing to say "OK, it leaks, I'll go home and try and figure it out. But NO, Tony says, lets dig into it!! After a while we figure out I had a massive leak in the front condensor. So Tony is going to pull some strings and try and get me another used condensor here in LA tomorrow. Boy, I'll tell you, membership (Pelican) has its priviledges. I hope I can return the favor in a similar way to other Pelicans.

Hugh,
You can return the favor by posting Tony’s full contact info. Full name, shop, address, phone, e-mail, and directions. This is how the “Good Guys” get known – word of mouth. Best, Grady

Hugh: What did you end up doing for fittings on the heat exchanger? Also, where did you install it? (Pics?)

ScottB
I put the subcooler behind the front swaybar, I'll post pics as soon as I know it works. Re: TonyG, I'll confer with him first on posting info. My biggest recommendation on a/c work is what ScottB told me, buy the hose in bulk, and the fittings, fit it into the car and then have them crimped once your sure you know what you want. More details on the subcooler fittings later, but they're basically standard hardware store flare fittings that are sweated on. You need to look in the little drawers where they have flare and compession fittings. You also need a flaring tool which you can also get at Loew's, Home Depot, etc. I needed to buy another flaring tool that would accept 5/8" copper tubing. BTW, copper pipe and copper tubing are different. You need tubing dimensions, and sizes. I'll let the board know if it works. TonyG may have scored me an "SC" flare fitting front condensor for a real good price (read free), but I'm not sure yet. More later
