8 way power seat disassembly
On my last 911 (SC coupe) I had a pair of late model high backs installed. The drivers side bolster was just beginning to show the first signs of wear. In order to keep it from getting any worse I swapped the seat backs. It worked like a champ since they were universal.
It's the same story with the 993 seats. ...at least, that's what I thought. When I removed the four 15mm bolts that hold the seat back to the bottom, it wouldn't come free. Upon further inspection, I can just barely make out what appears to be a shaft of some sort going into the bottom portion of the seat back. I then started thinking... "hmmm... these are '8 way' seats and I think my old car only had '4 way' seats." So, I dug through my trusty factory manuals and found a bunch of info on adjusting/replacing the lifters but N O T H I N G pretaining to disassembly of the seat backs. Does anyone have experience taking these seats apart? Is it more trouble than it's worth? Ideas?

Well, I'm looking square at a circlip on a shaft that goes "into" the seat back. I'm really kind of scared to remove it without knowing the consequences.
Anyone???
