In my opinion, there is no substitute for either using a complete replacement fender or welding in metal, as we did. Just IMHO, of course! |
Hi KS,
Where can I get this "new style" rear RS bumper? Ta Ron |

so where would one find one of these "new" RS style rear bumpers??
|
Non that I have found for retail...
...I'm prototyping one that I hope to use to make a mold for a eurethane version along with the Yellow Bird eurethane bumpers. Time...time...time... |
ok i dont understand the whole backdating thing why would you take a 911 and change it to make into an older version? I can understand the other way around. say with a carrera and putting a 993 interior etc. but why go back?
|
Easy - some people like the "old" longhood style with a fully galvanised shell. They also like the weight savings at the extremities.

Backdating the car saves weight, and makes the car look much better. Wish I could find someone making these parts that adapt the new style front fenders to the early style turn signal!!! Joe A |
Joe, I thought you already had fenders? And it looks like Damon may be slowly getting back into more Porsching again from what I've seen of his posts recently. Maybe his kit will be available?
As for Ken's question...why does going to a 993 style make more sense than going to a longhood style? Have you seen an RS/RSR side by side with a Carrera/930? Joe's post is right on... There have been lots of cars from across the pond that were required to be Fed-arized with bumopers. The 911 is probably the most well executed, but there are lots of us who still long for the uninterrupted flowing lines of a longhood... |
Souk, funny because i never thought i would do this. then i saw an early longhood next to an SC. BLEW me away.
now i'm trying to save up enough money to backdate my 1978 SC. if you don't mind, i wouldn't mind chatting with you about this via email, PM, IM...whatever. i've got some ideas and you seem to be very experienced in this arena!!! Cheers, Kyle. |
Bring it on Kylie. I'm always willing to help another sicko like myself :D
