911 fuch fitment
I have recently bought a 1988 911 cab(non-turbo) with 15 x7 and 15x8 fuchs on them. The car is an aniversary model with special body color, including the Fuch wheels. The Fuchs have offsets of 23 ET front and 10.6ET rear. I'm now searching for 16" Fuchs. I think that 16"x7 front is fine, but I wonder if I could put 16"x9 in the back instead of 16"x8. Also, would it be possible to put 245 45 ZR 16 on 16x8 if I decide to go with it?
I have to say I'm new to the older 911, although I had a 1998 993 for the last two years. I thought I 'd ask around for opinions or experiences in this subject. If you have any input, I'd really appreciate it. |

You can put 7's and 8's or 7's and 9's. You can fit 245 45's on 8's or 9's or even 7's, but I think it's best to keep the 245's for the 9's from a handling perspective.

Thanks Steve for you input. I guess I will go with 9 and 245 tire.
I realize though Fuch 16x9s are pretty hard to find. Anyway, Thanks again. Andrew |

Pictures are required. Diamond Blue? My favorite color.

That's correct Michael, the color is called Diamond Metallic Blue. It is surely an unusual color. I'll take some pictures and post it soon.
Going back to Fuchs, I think I'll go with 16x9 for the rear. If anyone knows about any possible issues such as sub-optimal car handling having 9's in the back and 7's front, please let me know. It can't be worse than having 15" 7s and 8s that are on my car now (came as stock). I certainly do not have enough confidence on these wheels because they are too bouncy, especially on highway. I'm planning to replace all four shocks with Bilsteins with turbo tierod upgrade. Hopefully, this upgrade with 16" wheels and low profile tires (Bridgestones) will give back the confidence I surely had with my '98 993. It was such a greart car until I got in a car wreck ( a long story). I hope that this '88 911 fill the void until I get my next 993 (probably a '97 turbo or '98 C4S). For now I'd like to take it easy with this one (which is quite difficult as you know), but still like this car to handle a little bit better around corners. Thanks everyone. Andrew, I am partial to the 1988 Commemorative Edition. This is mine. Looking forward to seeing your car.
