Will the 911 run without the rear fuse/relay panel installed??
The reason I ask, is I want to remove the rear fuse/relay (regulator?) panel and rework it. Upgrade the relays and connectors (especially since mine fell apart in my hand). Maybe install a different custom aluminum panel. So if the large 14 pin connector is unplugged and I can manage to horse this thing the rest of the way out, leaving the CD unit intact, can I still drive the car, i.e. anything critical in the panel that will keep the car from running other than the rear window defogger relay, the heater blower relay & fuse, heater blower fuse, and the rear window defogger fuse?
I think I'm going to scrap the idea of going with another used 14 pin connector like the one that was in there even if I can get my hands on one. Will just try to locate a 14-20 pin hi current male/female connector pair and go from there. Still haven't had any luck getting the pinout info of that connector to the rear fuse/relay panel. Seems like the only thing around is for the 914.. Thanks for all your help... Monty '78 911SC ![]()

14pin can be modified. Every stock connection isn't soldered. I'd silver solder everything. I do consider it a good harness design with a quality pin connection. You can rewire the whole package with waterproof "Deutsch Connectors" and/or MSD waterproof connectors. I think the Deutsch has silver pins. I use both kinds for different things. this leads to my eng comp electrics.. naturally everything is designed to be repaired, modified, and deliver. ...enjoy MSD/Crane Mounting Locations

New 14-pin connector's and pins are available. I believe the 14-pin connector wiring harness is more or less integral with the wiring harness of the rear electrical chassis. Also, if you have an externally regulated alternator you will lose connection to the regulator (it's on the chassis). I also believe one or two of the CIS fuel injection circuits run through the fuses on chassis. Car will probably have to be down while you rebuild/improve the electrical chassis or could make a bunch of jumper circuits for temporary use. Jim
