targa speedster?

Has anyone ever seen a targa converted to a speedster
type look while retaining the targa bar?
This would be removing the rear window, installing
the speedster humps with modifications to
fit within the targa bar - and I guess the cut
down windshield?

Just curious if this exists and what it looks like
outside of my imagination...

Spike

I can't imagine that it would look that great. The softwindow with the rear window zipped out and the top off looks pretty cool to me, but if you shorten the windshield then you'll lose the continuity between the windshield and the targa bar, and to me that would look off.

Just my thoughts

Aaah, relief at last !

I was a 1/100000000000th of a mm away from calling you when you had the car up, kinda, for sale.

I guess my request for you to post the car was somewhat of a 'torture' request for me to see the car again.

What are the smog laws in CA?

In Ontario, only vehicles made within the last 20 years have to have a "Drive Clean" test here in order to get a tag.

Is it similar there?

Well, it used to be....any 30-year old car is smog exempt. Unfortunately, with the new Governator, it has changed. As of today, any car from 1976 on must be smogged every other year.

A little stricter there I see...

We could get an 84 or older and do whatever we wanted with no concerns for smog testing.

The same car exists in my imagination friend. I can/t quite visualize a full height targa bar though, which leads me to imagine a roll cage/bar (necessary for serious track work) or maybe a lowered targa bar.

My speedster would follow the speedster philosophy much more closely than JW though. Super lightweight stripped interior and a plexiglass windscreen ala 550 spyder.. I admit this philosophy is closely related to my budget philosophy.

Pics of any speedster conversions would be GREAT!

john, what's the rear bumper on the speedster? I love the way you've combined later interior pieces with the early sport seats!

it's an all metal rear bumper using a center section of an early front bumper to join the early rear pieces, with SC rear fender extensions blended in. some wrap around sheetmetal finishes the bottom. it has a monty turbo muffler on the 3.0 turbo engine, so i had to go down kind of far to cover it.
