Mashed Brake Line! * Pic *

Hello,

In going through my brakes and front suspension, I noticed this mashed brake line. It appears to have occurred due to extreme suspension travel, either the tie rod coming up and rubbing it, or possibly the tire itself in sharp left turns.

My question: Is this line proper located / routed? Anyone have a picture of how it is supposed to be routed?

The car is a '70E coupe, with RSR/930 flares front and rear. Up front, I am running 8" 965 wheels with a 1 inch spacer. I actually need quite a bit more spacer to bring the wheel out to the fender well, but I didn't think it would rub on the inside. In fact, I don't think it is from the tire, I think it is from the tie rod, but I am not sure. Up front I am running 23 mm torsion bars and a 19mm through-body sway bar.

Any thoughts on what caused this? I'll be replacing it, but want to make sure I prevent it from happening again.

Thanks,

JA

Can someone post a pic of the driver's side front wheel well? Maybe one of you guys with the gourmet kitchen cleanliness disorders!

Thanks,

JA

John,

Wouldn't someone surely see this when repairing accident damage? Any work done to the inner fender or suspension or wheel well would certainly seem to make this jump out at you.

I'll check to see if there is any obvious repair work in this area, and in the meantime assume you are right. If so, should be an easy fix.

By the way, do you think this could be caused by suspension travel or tire wear?

Thanks,

JA
