What is this thing?
I'm getting ready to clean up my engine bay by removing my A/C which is not working. I was wondering if the large balck plastic thing in the picture below is part of the A/C. If it's not part of the A/C then what is it for? Thanks!

To elaborate on Bills answer (which is correct) air travels from the motor shroud up the wider tube on the right, through the fan, and back down the left hand tube. After it disappears through the tinwear the air passes through the heat exchangers (to become hotter!) and then into the cockpit of the car. So no, it's not part of the air-con setup.
Sorrt Bill, just thought he might want to understand how it works.

Thanks guys. That makes sense. The only reason I was asking is because there is a sticker on it that indicates how much refrigerant the A/C system takes.
How about the radiator attached to the deck lid? (at the top of my picture) That looks like it is part of the A/C. Can I remove it?
