CV Joint question

When sliding the CV joint back onto the axle, is there any alignment or doesn't it matter? Also, the concave washer between axle and CV joint, which way does it face?

I don't quite know what you mean by the CV joint. Do you mean the whole thing, including the inner race, or is the inner race still attached to the axle?

In any case, there is one important thing to look out for when putting the ball bearings back in. The balls rest in pairs (unless you're Lance Armstorng - sorry Lance), with a wide gap between one pair, and a narrow gap between the next pair. These gaps are clear on both the inner and outer race. You must match a narrow gap up with a wide gap, or else the completed joint won't swivel.
