Update to 964 engine cover

My 82 SC

Would look better, for the addition of a retractable
rear spoiler, but electrics aside (for now)

it appears to 'splay' the hinges apart, when offered up.

I'm told this has been covered on these forums before

can anyone offer any advice

cheers everyone

Richard

I dont speak British, but if you're asking about fitment issues, you have to change the hinges to the 964 type or modify the ones you have for it to fit.

This is as far as I've got
its dark outside and I'm stopping for breath

AS I'd been warned, the hinges look like they will need
SOME sort of adjustment.

Hopefully by merely drilling some extra holes in the underside of the engine cover,
I can simply move that captive nut thing to the side a bit within the cover itsel.f

what do you think.

I'm inclined to go with the 964 hinges if I can find a pair.....I need to take the wing assembly fully out as you did.....

wing

might I suggest
leaving the moving part as together as you can,

just pop off the x8 spring washer/clips
the x3 Allen keys either side
and the fixed grille is the final bit to be removed

mine came out fairly easily

wish I d taken some pictures as I went along though

as I suspect getting it all together again when painted might just be interesting

Have you considered the electrical side yet?

I'm going with a spring-loaded toggle switch in the dash

as I cant quite make head or tail of the micro-switches

If you have a solution I'd be VERY interested in looking at it

I dont' know how you saw this.
for myself I intially decided, it would raise as soon as the engine started, but with th option of switching it 'down'
but with a warning light on then.

Instead I wondered, whether to use the micro-switches
but it looked a bit involved,

so a rocker switch like a window riser looked the best bet
perhaps with smallest in-line fuse I can get,
should someone play with it and bugger the little motor
accidentally

This I was also told,
although the air-box was first mentioned
and the rear blower motor,

might also be in the way.

I haven't anything else in the way

don't suppose you have any pictures so I might see the prob

If you do a search, youll find this topic has been covered a few times. If you use the same hinges you have now, you can just add spacers where they connect to the body, and bolt them to the original spots on the tail, or just get the 964 hinges and it will all bolt up just fine with no mods.
