Help! Installing 964 decklid on early car. Hinges and wiring?

I am installing a 964 decklid on my '73 and am interested to see some hinge mod and wiring ideas before I start on my own. I have checked the threads but it seems like a tough search. The only hinge thread I could find is the one with the angle aluminum hinge mod. Not quite what I had in mind...
I know there is a wiring schematic floating around, but I can't seem to find it. Sure would save alot of leg work on my end. Jack?

Thanks, Matt

Here is "the" site, including wiring.
(BTW the 'AutoLoc' can be found cheap on eBay)

Thanks so much to all who replied. All the extra ideas will be helpful. Unimog, thanks for the link to Tyson's diagram. Just last night I had hit on the idea of a power window auto controller, so it was nice to see and it's that much less to figure out.
I will be using a modified stock hinge. I'm looking for something that won't look modified when complete (angle iron or aluminum offsets, spacers etc.) I have already notched the stock hinge at the deck mounting face to clear the spoiler insert flange and relocated the one mount hole. I will be building a spacer to relocate the pivot end and will have pictures if anyone would like to see yet another idea on this subject .

Thanks again, Matt

Ok, I tried fab'ing a spacer at the pivot end of the hinge, but the hinge hit the curved part of the deck lid opening keeping the lid from opening up fully. I decided that the most practical way was to offset the hinge 1-1/8". I tried to make the offset as close to the spoiler as possible so it would not be as obvious when open. I cut the hinge in halve and welded it back together with a piece of sheetmetal 1-1/8 inch wide. I tried to follow the hinge contours so it wouldn't be so hacked looking. Barely noticable when in place with the spoiler. I also shortened the hinge where it bolts to the deck and added a hole as the old lid had the holes farther apart. Works excellent, just needs a little paint and they're done.
Now, as soon as my Autoloc unit shows up...

Matt

Oops, after the deck was opened, it had a little flex, so I added a gusset at on end of the offset...

Regarding the MA Shaw adapter that was mentioned, I tried these adapters and I couldn't make them work. From what I can tell, they are designed for the use of an older decklid on a 964. I guess for those who want to use an older tail + decklid.

Nice job, I've never seen it done like that, very clean. Are you going to put a shock on both sides?

Thanks for the kind words...
Here are pictures of the lid assembled, open and closed. I will likely just double up the shock on the one side with a spacer. I think once the hinges are painted they will blend in fine...

Outstanding

Matt,
VERY NICE. A very clean 'conversation' of the old style (non 964) hinges.
It will look like it is straight from the factory, when it is painted.
If you want the 'complete' look, use the pictogram switch pn#

In response to some inquirys I have had, I can convert anyone else's early hinges to adapt a 964 deck lid the same as I did mine and can finish out and color match if desired...
Anyone interested?

Matt

You can send me your hinges to modify, or if they are in use I will try to find a used set that I could send out on an exchange basis. Not sure on prices for a pair, but I'm thinking around $50.00 to modify (U-finish) or $100.00 color matched with PPG urethane ready to bolt on. Feedback?

I will try to finish out my own set ASAP and post a picture of the end product.

Matt

Hinges

Matt,

Thanks. $50 is fair. My hinges are still attached to the under side of the engine compartment. My car has no deck lid on it at this time.
Let me know how to remove them and I will send FedEx.
I have a track event @ Pocono in less than 1 month!.

Please send address.
