Turbo clutch upgrade too noisy in a G50?
Heard a rumor that upgrading to a spring centered turbo clutch can mean more noise? Any truth to that?

I have a 930 clutch in my car. I don't think it is too noisy. But others might

When I had mine replaced from a rubber center disc to the spring center disc on my 930 I did notice some noise when the engine was bogged done in city driving while increasing the revs. Worried at first because it wasn't making the noise before with the rubber center disc. But I was told that the noise was normal so I just keep the revs up more! Not sure if the same would happen with a G50.

After the original rubber center clutch left me stranded I have used the Turbo clutch, slight increase of noise at low revs only goes away as the revs increase. After a while you dont really notice it.

I had a regular spring centered clutch in my '88. I was never driving the car and thought to myself "man, what a noisy clutch!" If someone is worried about that then they need to trade their 911 in on a Lexus, Mercedes, or Cadillac. The G-50 tranny isn't silent, but it's not really that loud either. The engine is much louder.

AGree, don't go rubber centred. They tend to explode on you after prolonged spirited driving. BTDT!
When I am ready, I will upgrade to a Spring Centered unit. As for noise, I doubt you will hear anything over the sound of that sweet Flat6 ![]()

I have the spring centered clutch. I guess I can hear some of the gear noise transfering through the transmission, maybe slightly louder than my daily driver Mitsubishi. But it's a Porsche for cryin' out loud, it's not supposed to be quiet! If you're worried about a little bit of tranny noise, I wouldn't be getting an old 911.
