bizarre engineering exercise

This is... um... interesting.

A '57 Chevy with C4 corvette front and rear suspension and an LS1 with 8 turbos. Yep, 8. Only makes 730 hp, but I think it was more about "can it be done" than "how much power can we make".

http://www.lateral-g.org/sandlin/

Trying to add some on topic content, how small would the turbo's have to be to get 6 in the back of a 911? Pretty small I bet.

Hey, if one is good and 2 are better, then 6 or 8 must be grrrreat, right?

Tuning the thing must be a beotch!

Interesting.

However, that car is going to be a nightmare in 5 years when it comes time to start chasing leaking O-rings!

Wow, I was hoping your were only kidding. Whatever gets you off I guess. Along these lines, wasnt the Ford GT 90 concept a quad turbo, and wasn't there a Bugatti that was also a quad turbo? 4 seems a stretch but 8??? WOW, next thing I see will have 4 turbo Hyabusa engines, one for each wheel!

That engine doesn't look cool, it just looks like a plumbing nightmare...

Is the intercooler under the dash or what?

Jeez, the thing looks like a cross between a '58 T-Bird 4 seater, a Corvette (the dash and '57 Vette taillights backwards in the hood) and maybe a '57 Chevy. And, it's got that talking Pontiac Firebird thingy in the hood.

"Micheal, are you sure you want me to look this way?"

Seems like Chrysler had a concept car this year with multi turbos.
ME412 which I think stood for Mid Engine 4 turbos and 12 cylinders.

There used to be a company that turned Chevy V8s into V12s by using an extended block and extra parts. Anybody ever done the opposite of the Polo motor (4 cylinder from a 911) and made a flat 8,10 or 12 from a base 911 motor?

Tube frame car with 2 911 motors anyone?

Maybe a 911 motor with 6 E-Rams??? (Donning flame suit...hahahahaha)

Cars like this can be cool, but so sften they are uneven projects. This one is typical. Whats with that foul interior? poor forms and volumes, and poor fitting. And the aftermarket guages look just that. Whats better than on lame guage? 14, of course!

But..I would think the reason to add 8 turbos would be to keep the runs short and the lag minimal. Looks like this layout has resulted in exactly the opposite?

And why are the header pipes plain ole steel, and not stainless? Again, uneven work.

There are lots of thing left to do to a '57, (like a V-12?) but this wasn't one of them!

Wasn't there someone in Australia building a V-12 or V-16 '57?
