Early S rocker moulding question

I saw a picture of Dr. Porsches personal Carrera RS and he had S rocker moulding similar to the S bumper trim. This moulding piece looked like the T type moulding but had the thick S rubber insert. I like this look better than the standard '72 S rocker trim. I have a '72 and added Carrera flares. I want to add rocker moulding but the std S moulding is straight from front to back. I now have a flare so it wont work plus this trim does not bend. How can I get, make, or steal a piece of S type trim, like the bumper trim, to run along the side of the car?

Jon

The car was in an issue of 911 and Porsche World.

Jon,
That would be an RS rocker panel; touring equipment. It's flared at the rear to match the wheel well. Not sure how easy this is to find.

The flare is about the same size as SC flares, thus SC rockers will work, but not the same look.

How did you manage that Bill? Did you just bend them out at the rear yourself?

Yes

The rear bumper ends were also oem, notched, bent and pieces welded in to match the contours of the RS flares.

Bill,

Can you post a close up picture of the bend? How difficult were they to bend without crimping the channel?

Yes, please, close up pictures and description of process if you would! I am planning to do the same to my car. Your car is gorgeous, by the way.

I'll look but i don't recall any closeups of that area. it wasn't a big deal. The bumper ends was where all the effort went.

Bill, when you bent out the bumper ends, did you have to add material to the length of the bumper? I started on one of mine and found that the bumper falls short of the flare by about the width of the bumper end cap. Did you add material to the length of the bumper, besides the gaps created by the notches?

Yes, I was fortunate in finding a highly skilled Italian metal worker. He had magic hands. As I recall he cut and welded the new material in the curved part of the bumper ends .i.e. not at the wheel end, but rather an inch or two back.
