Contemplating buying this tail...
It's just in my price range, and I have a fiberglass repair kit. Is fiberglass relativly easy to fix? Also by to looks of it in the pictures is there anything else I should know about it before buying it. I made the mistake of buying a replica tail with no lip. Man those lips are expensive.

Hey Beau, if you can get it for $99, it might be a fun deal. I have an OK deck lid you could bolt it on so you don't have to muck up yours. If you're interested, PM me and I'll make you a deal you can't refuse.

im actually willing to take the time to repair it. I have also had some body repair experience. Mabye should I ask the seller if the rubber is in good condition? Or how sturdy is the louvers section? any more cracks? Whadaya think? Im talking about a tail for a third (at the least) of the price of a nice one. Just some TLC and it should be lookin good. Please more input.

Is that not a rubber lip I was looking at? Is it an all fiberglass part? I'm confused.

Hey Beau..... Zeke is right on this, it's all fiberglass. It looks pretty ratty from here. I'd pass in favor of a better piece. One will come along eventualy. And you car not having 930 flares would look awfully juvenile with that big ole tail. Why don't you look into a duck tail or a Carrera tail. Much nicer IMHO.

it's also missing the screen and louvres, and it looks like a cheap repop. not worth the powder it would take to blow it to hell.

So you guys suggest I should keep looking and pass on this one. Well I have learned that majority rules, and I should trust you guys on this. Oh yeah, Kevin, this is the type of tail that I want. I will eventually put wide fenders on the Pcar to make it look not so juvinile. Its a work in progress with little income, so its a very slooooow process.

YUK!!! Get a real tail. that all fiberglass one looks terrible. Check our forsale board, Gordon is usually selling one. If 300-700 dollar range is out of your budget, wait and save. You'll be much happier with an original Porsche tail.

My biggest objection is that that tail is wrong for your car. Turbo tails look ok on 930s but are out of place on the daintier SC/Carrera's
For a street car a factory tail is good but for a track car you will appreciate the much lighter f/g or c/f replicas.

I would not waste my money on that tail. Way too beat up. Plenty more to choose from.

Make sure you make allowances for aerodynamic affect of adding a tail, some consideration may be needed for a front carrera type spoiler to balance the effect of a tail. There are quite a few threads on that subject on this site. thats how I learned, by the way its always been my experience to spend the extra money once on what you really want than buy a bargain that you will regret later, again only my past experience, good luck with whatever you decide.

Looks like not everyone caught Beau's comment that he is planning on doing the widebody conversion eventually. For now he's taking his time and accumulating all the pieces.
Rock on Beau, take your time, find the deals and in the meantime DRIVE IT!!

Thats odd I only saw mentioned that Beau was going to put wide fenders on the Pcar, I was not going to assume that also meant front spoiler work. and perhaps if he infact said he was going to do a wide body conversion which was never said, then maybe I would make the assumption, In any case if Beau was only going to put on the tail at this time I thought he should consider the effects of air.

Pass... Fiberglass can be a bee-otch to make look good even when it's good fiberglass. If it's that old then your just buying a MAJOR labor headache that may never get you there. Keep your eyes open and budget about 300-600 for a good tail. They show up all the time. Also, you could go for the Carrera tail (basically a scaled down version of the turbo tail) it will fit your body nicely and eliminate the need for Turbo flares. What is your budget for this whole project? Street or track???
Ditto on the front spoiler. If you do a tail you need to do a front spoiler as well... Fairly easy DIY runs about 150.00-200.00 and about 3-5 beers.
