1972 seat slider bracket conversion?

Sorry to bug you guys with a simple newbie question, but I key-word searched the list first and did not find the info.

What are the methods/sources for converting the seat brackets/sliders on a 1972 Targa for newer seats?

Are there specific issues related to aftermarket seats I should know about vis-a-vis mounting to the hardware and/or bolt holes in my floorplan? I'm thinking Summit or Corbeau, if not a newer pair of Porsche factory seats.

Thanks for any guidance! My side oiler, she's a work in progress but tons of fun all the same. With new seats, at least she'll be comfy!

Tom

Does this look right? Recaro Pole Position mounting problems in an early car

Snake Doc, I owe you a public apology...your email, I thought you were somebody I choose to ignore using an alias. Afraid I can't help on this one tho, since I've always run the factory seats, never tried any newer ones.

I went to a hardware store and bought some heavy angle iron and fabbed (is that a verb?) new seat mounts. Welded them in. The Porsche supply houses have the adapters for spendy prices. This is a great improvement going to later model seats from the '72 OEM (*literally) bucket seats--not the unobtainable sport seats. If you do my approach, be aware that you will lose some ceiling height which might be a problem if you are wearing a helmet. YMMV

I have a 72 with a corbeau and the mounting kit that came with worked great. I think I had to drill out 2 of the holes a little bit bigger.

Thats interesting because my Corbeau kit doesnt fit at all. Did you still have the "wings" (L shaped pice on one side) attached to the body and the kit mounted to it?

I think I'd really like to know the part number of the mounting kit tobluforu us used for his Corbeau install. For that matter, be good to know what part number of rattlsnak's kit, too, so I can watch my p's and q's if I purchase Corbeaus.

A search using the key words "Seat Adapters" turns up quite a list.

One thing to consider is how to mount the lap portion of your seat belts. This is discussed as well.

I dont have the part number off hand, but i went to the Corbeua site, and the one I have is the correct one according to them. I think the difference is that I dont have the wing things on anymore and I think maybe the kit was made to mount to them.

tobluforu??
