I didn't know you could do that. Any negatives with respect to the deposited metal ending up in the pads?

Pretty cool, that'll keep the rust off for a while... I'll be interested to know if there are any problems with the plating between the pad and rotor... maybe it'll just burn off. I'd be tempted to sand the plating off where the pad goes. What's the plating? Nickel would bee cool too.

It'll burn off the pad surface after a short drive.

I have seen many other rotors plated as well and decided to give it a wirl. It is yellow zinc and my main concern was the rusting of the hats etc.I thought if I was going to buy nice expensive rotors I better protect them and make them look good. Cost $20 bucks. and it will wear right of where the pads go within a few miles of breaking. I thought it was real cool Oh and the idea came from the add that performance products had in one of the excellence adds on some 996 rotors.

At least it isn't Cad - I'd rather have zinc dust around than Cd dust.... or Be dust for that matter.
It'll be interesting to see how it works. The iron surfaces are usually pretty polished feeling so it may not crash.... |

The coatings work well where corrosion is an issue. I haven't found corrosion to, be an issue w/ Brembos but w/ some other brands it can be anything form mildly annoying to very bad.
The worst has been the oems from Audi(winter use in the worst NE conditions makes it worse but they also rust up overnight from plain old rain), I usually buy cad plated replacements for that application.

So, Bill, ... you don't think the cad comes off as dust? You were talking about cad plated Audi rotors, right?

I have no doubt it will wear right off on the pad surface my main concern again was just to protect the hats and the vented area from looking crappy. Remember I LIVE IN WISCONSIN. This requires extra measures to keep stuff looking as nice as it does in CA. If it is a problem I can remove the pad mating surface etc. I will let everybody know next spring. I hope they look nice for the winter on the car anyhow
