project idea.

anyone ever build a speedster windshielded coupe?

You mean a coupe with a chopped top, for less frontal area? I've seen it done.

atlporsche 10-29-2004 06:26 AM

got any pics?

then if you rolled the bumpers in it'd really bring out the 356 heritage lines....

I would think that it would start to look a like the GT-1.

Indeed...the factory used just such a windshield to come up with the one used on the GT1.....

Porschekid962 11-09-2004 11:12 PM

Jeroen 11-11-2004 04:56 PM

More info about it on this website:

see...that's so totally cool....

off to envision and not get any work done.

It would be a really good thing to do and save a otherwise good top damaged shell. I really like how it looks, gives a very menacing I am coming to get you look.

atlporsche 11-12-2004 05:12 AM

yep.

it wouldn't be too difficult..basically get a repro speedster windshield...get the rubber surround for a 911, then remake the metal surround for the old 911 coupe top....all while lowering the roofline..

it'd be very 356 looking when done.

erobinson 11-12-2004 09:22 AM

also its good to see another SE porsche guy out there

RickM 11-12-2004 09:26 AM

The last pic is add on hard top I assume. A chopped coupe would look different....maybe cooler? Anyone good at Photo-Chop? :D

atlporsche 11-12-2004 10:20 AM

there's a chopped 912 pic out there somewhere...

http://www.912registry.org/images/66/cmorales2.jpg

erobinson...where you at in the SE? there's lots of us...watch for "atlanta pelicans" threads...

erobinson 11-12-2004 10:48 AM

down around the milledgeville/macon area

I had the only functioning 911 in the county awhile back but now its brokken :(

RickM 11-12-2004 11:08 AM

The chopped 912 is very cool.

kach22i 11-12-2004 01:05 PM

Yea, that 912 is nice, although it suffers a bit from the 996 humpback look. I like it just the same.:)

erobinson 11-12-2004 07:49 PM

the 912 rear window needed to be a bit more flush at the top, but it does look sweet

That's Davis' car. It not only looks good, but it hauls ass as well. Consistent front runner in POC and polesitter at this year's Tribute to LeMans at California Speedway.
