don't know any details,but it sounds like something happened before the twist... tire blow out was my first thought as well

not lifting... the way he went on the radio with a crew , makes me think this wasn't a casual track day , probably was a competitive race

so if he was out of harms way , and yellow flag was out, they could zoom by as long as they don't overtake...

I sent this video to my German speaking friend for interpretation...she says:

"The driver (Dietmar) is reporting to the pit crew saying he went off course.
Reports damage to the front left and his location.
Has no idea what happened and says he believes he's ok.
Also reports a sequence of immediate steps he's goint to take
to get out of the car.
(it appears that's the protocol to follow in case of an accident)
The crew responds that he had lost one wheel.
and that the tow truck is on its way to get him.
They said that we won't be able to resume the race."
