Sorry to be such a n00b.

This was a 'special edition' limited production 1980 911SC. It came in two colors, black metallic and a champaign-ish color. I believe these cars all came standard with front and rear spoilers, as well as a complimentary piping and other trim on the interior. Wheels were also colored in the champaign/pewter color. They are said to not be very collectible, though....personal preference, I guess.. At least one Pelicanhead (Ahem, Schrup) has turned his Weissach into more or less a track car

I did. Hard to separate the wheat from the chaff, especially since I don't know what I'm looking for.

The discussions I turned up in my search all seemed to take the definition of "Weissach" and what it meant for granted. Basically, it was difficult to read between the lines and understand the significance of the term.

I did a bit better on Google, but wanted a Pelican perspective as well.

I always thought of it along the lines of the "limited edition" selling gimick. VW and mabye Audi have the same.
The idea being was that the German cars sold in the US were substandard to the European ones.
I just thought the parts were scarcer and more expensive.

Search feature is very useful. Start at the earliest posts.

People are obviously willing to help out, this board is about asking questions and having discussions. All topics have been covered at this point if everyone just searched and did not post topics this board would suck! OK, now I will come down off my high horse.

Weissach the word?

Weissach is the name of the research and development facility for Porsche.

It's also a shop http://www.weissach.com/

A good site about the cars:

then there was the'77 924 "roots" edition, as we called it at the dealer. cool red and blue decals on a white body. also referred to as "geek-sport quattro-port". the weissach 911 was just another '80 with some trim changes.

Ha Ha Ha LOL!!! Or a Prelude "special edition" Just kidding. I do really like the color though. And Schrup does have a mighty cool one.

It occurs to me that it would be more helpful to the questioner to show him (or her) exactly how to phrase a particular advanced search query... than to just tell them to use the feature.

I usually go with posting links to a bunch of searches I've done on the subject...kinda makes the point and kinda helps some too. :-)

I think the Weissach is cool, Porsche definitely put some appearance goodies on the car. There is one for sale here in NJ on the JSR website. A little far for you but a point of reference nonetheless.

1980 Porsche 911SC Weissach – Limited Edition 1 of 400, only 39,300 miles, mint condition, Weissach Gray Metallic with light beige all leather interior, contrasting burgundy piping on seats and plush burgundy carpeting, forged alloy Fuch wheels with platinum metallic centers, front spooler with fog lights and rear “whale tail” spoiler and sport shocks. All mechanical upgrades completed. Asking price $23,500

Yes, also another problem is that if one of the search key words is an item/word that sometimes occurs in several forum members' signature car statistics, the search will hit any post by those particular members... regardless of the actual content of the post.

This board is starting to sound like the BMW Roadfly board. I quit going to it. I like this one because everyone shows respect to people asking questions. Whats the big deal if the question is asked a lot?
