interior for longhood

so my ideas so far are the GTS nurburgring seats with black leather on the sides and black and white houndstooth in the middle. black rubbber mats, black felt headliner, black flet dash cover, ultra minimal door panels, rs carpet wher applicabale.

is that minimalist enough, or should i eliminate more?

Sounds cool. I've never seen a felt headliner in a 911.

The novelty of no carpet wears off quickly in street driving. I'd suggest an RS carpet kit, but I would also use lightweight soundproofing (like the bubble-wrap-sandwiched-in-aluminum type) so that you're not slowly runing your hearing.

Do they actually offer houndstooth or is this something you will do?

expensive yes, heavy no. Check the wt. data and you'll see there is nearly no savings at all with the things a lot of people do to "lighten" the interior - it is merely cosmetic.

Not to go off on a tangent, but arent the GTS seats approx 30 lbs lighter per seat than the factory sport seats?
I would love to have Pauls sport seats , but just cant convince him to sell them. The way I see it he would WANT to go back original

Come on, Randy. The factory seats are monsters. The rest of it is nickle/dime, but it adds up to a few pounds. Then you put it all back with a roll bar.

But, why have both ? Unless you just want it that way.

I like what _kid is proposing. Felt dash might be hard to keep clean.

Sorry - I missed the seat part. I was talking about the carpet/door panel/etc.

The stock early seats are indeed heavy. In the mid-1970's ('74 and on?) the stock seats switched to foam and are much lighter. To go lighter than that by much you will have to give up the ability to tilt the backrest. There are ways to make very light and strong seats with a tilting backrest, but I've not found any that fit into a 911 or look good there.

Another heavy component of the seating can be the steel adapters and frames that the seats sit on - depends on how they are constructed.

Stock is good, but I don't think it's what Porschekid962 has in mind for his new project.
