Looking for opinion on Early Model seats...
I have gone through various searches and have found allot of useful information on finding a set of good aftermarket seats for my 1970 911.
I want to go with a vintage styled race seat This is what I have come up with; Vintageseats.com = Beautiful but cost $2k plus... Nurburgring seats = Very nice at a reasonable cost. (How long does it take to get a pair delivered?) Corbeau Classic & Classic II = Decent looking and they are the low cost option of the bunch. Bob Tilton (Nice car by the way) has installed the Classic II's and seems to be very happy with them. Does anyone have an opinion or even seen, sat or otherwise in a Corbeau Classic all vinyl seat? I have done various searches but I have yet to see a 911 with these seats installed? The only picture I have is the one from the Corbeau website. Any help is appreciated. Thanks, BT. |

What is your inteded use? Street or track? I have the Bilstein seats (Nurburgring, BF turnino, GTS: all the same thing). they took about 6 weeks from Germany. This was unusually long since I had them modified for sub holes. These feel great for the street but don't have the same support as my early sport seats in the targa. I will likely be getting the new ST version which was not available when I got mine. Sorry don't have any feedback on the Corbeaus.

There's a thread around here somewhere about early 911 seats and aftermarket options.
One thing to consider is size. Some of the sporty seats will not be comfortable for "larger" people. I've thought about buying the seat rails and installing SC seats simply because I liked the seats in my old SC and SC seats are available at reasonable prices.

I have a vintageseats.com RS model on the drivers side in my 911E. I use my car as a daily driver and drive in the POC Short Track series at Streets of Willow. The seat is AWESOME!
B-T-W, there's a guy in Nevada now distributing the Torino seats. I think his website is GTS-classics.

Thanks for the feedback Guys.
Jamie - My intention is to have a street legal race car. This car will see the track. When will the ST version be available? chuckw951 - Re SC seats light? My car is on a diet! As for size, I should be OK as I am an 'Off the rack' 34" waist. Thanks. |

Your intentions sound like my ST. I think the ST version is out. Its on the website. Call GTS and ask. I will email Reiner in Germany to see if he has them and if they are in production.
I agree that the vintage seats are nice. Very expensive. 34" will fit no problem.

Bilstein seats (Nurburgring, BF turnino) are very comfortable in my opinion. Wouldn't mind those on a long trip.

The Early 911S board guys are always posting about these seats.
I have a street car and like the reclining seats. I have an old set of Recaro SE's. The new stock seats (mid-'70's and later) are lighter and better than the early stock seats. |

Hi, since we're on the subject of seats, does anyone know where I can get the material to recover my Recaro sport seats? I have the black cloth with the center panels in different shades of orange and Recaro splelled out over and over till it fades. Any info. will be appreciated. My email is vr6a399@aol.com
Thanks, Charlie

i have to admit to liking my cheap arse seats. to ME they do the job as a daily driver, looking period correct and saving me some $$$. call me crazy but until i win the lotto i would not fork over $2k+ for seats.
i managed to buy mine for $166 ea plus a misquoted but honored price of $40 ea for the rails. all TOTAL it was under $500 for bolt in seats delivered to my door. another R Gruppe guy has them in his 67S. this guy ordered matching material from corbeau and had the headrests recovered. they turned out great. i agree about the basketweave would look great instead of the fabric. it would be inexpensive to have an upholstery shop recover the seats. on more than one occasion people have mistakened the seats for scheels. so until i win the lotto or run a porsche parts company and drive a ferrari...my corbeaus are perfect...for ME .

I have also recently aquired some of the Classic II's (thanks for the feedback Bob). I have not had the chance to install them as of yet but I was able to sit threw a Pokeman marathon with my 7 year old with out any problems. Very comfortable, even for a guy my size. I did have to modify the bracket to allow for some mor head room. I also was able to get them with brackets for just under $500.

I'm going to chime in on the side of Pete at Vintage Seats, I've got a set of ST's beautifully made, very light, ok so they're not cheap but then again you can't take the money with you! Oh and I'm a 34" waist and they fit fine, any larger though and you'd have trouble

Just for reference here are my Bielstein Nurburgring 910 seats. They are the same as currently offered by GTS Classics. I got them delivered from Germany.
![]() btw, I don't know if GTS has exclusive rights to the US or not. Even with the current 1.3 exchange rate for the Euro, the seats are more than $200 each cheaper ordering from Reiner Biestein. Thats a big savings. I emailed him to see if he could get the newer Rallye ST seats. Mine may be for sale soon. Oh yeah, Bbbthom... thanks for the compliments on the car. Luke, Love that car!
