What is the minimum compression for a 9.5:1 engine?
I know the ideal for compression numbers is no variation of more than 10% between the cylinders.
Let's say you have 158 across the board on an SC. Shouldn't a 9.5:1 ratio have numbers in the 180's or 190's? I know there is no magic numnder to shoot for, just consistancy, but is there a minimum that makes you walk away from the deal? Last edited by plymouthcolt; 11-02-2004 at 03:26 PM.. |

If you have a recently-calibrated gauge ... 180 psi is the least I would consider acceptable!
Compression gauges can vary considerably in accuracy, yet be very repeatable and consistent! That is what makes comparing numbers from different tests such an 'iffy' game at best!
