Some guy had a factory jack failure so he saved that piece. Figured he could shove a square pipe on it and maybe JB Weld on a 3-4 inch round plate and he'd have a home made jack plate.

Slide the left end inside the jacking point on the car and the other end should attach onto the jack. Without having it in my hands cannot tell if its broken or just come apart.

It's a piece of the POS factory jack. Toss it and buy a bottle jack to keep in the 911.

Its also a sure way to have your 911 fall on ya - recycle it and have it made into tin cans, which serve a more useful purpose

Weld a big nut at the end that does not slide into the sqare jacking point on the car. That way, you can use a standard floor jack and the welded nut will prevent the jack from slipping.

Thanks for the replies.
I'll convert it to use with my tolley jack. On the subject of jacking (ish), I need to replace the steering rack and have seen a pic somewhere of the complete front end removed. Will it be OK to support the car (with axle stands) on the chassis rail that runs transveresly across the front of the car, to which the A arms are bolted to?

Why not use the two lugs built into the frame up front where the towing eyes are located? Thats where mine is sitting right now.

I support the front end using the body sections directly behind the front wheels, just inside the seams. You will find a semi-triangular area there that is ideal for this work.
