Unhappy Waaa! Winter Storage Blues!

Well folks, I sit here aimlessly surfing Pelician Parts after putting my 87 in storage for the upcoming winter. Nov - Apr 1 is storage season in Maine, at least for my car.

The empty space in my garage is just pathetic. It actually hurt to drive away from the storage facility knowing how far off 4/1/05 is.

Oh well, there is now the winter to plan my projects for the spring. Let's see, tires, shocks, turbo tie rods, alignment, lower, corner balance, chip...

[SIGH]

Mark,

Get yourself a winter project.

Have you considered finding another engine & transmission and rebuilding them? How about collecting all the new and used parts for a complete suspension and brakes upgrade? There are lots of possibilities.

Best,
Grady

Grady:

Thanks for the suggestions. I wish I could do exactly what you are saying.

Unfortunately time is going to be major problem this winter - work woes. Oh well, have to pay for parts some how.

I feel like I just abandoned a child.

What's up with all of these Pelicanites storing their cars for the winter??

It's almost November, and we're supposed to hit 87 tomorrow. Oh wait, some of you have that snow stuff, huh???

Maybe a better idea would be to ship your cars to Houston, and let us drive them for you while it is cold in your parts. Just a thought. I think there would be lots of takers on this end...

Why can't you work on the car during the winter? 5 months seems like a lot of time to get stuff done.

A couple of problems with that unfortunately. It's tough to work in the garage when it is -5 out. Yes I know, heat the garage. The three cars vs a two car garage is an issue in the winter too. Thus the 911 goes into storage. This is all solvable with $$$, but I'd rather put the money into the car itself.

But the main reason is spousal. Apparently still likes me and wants not to be a Porsche widow for 5 months. Considering she has put up with me for 18+ years its the least I can do. And I still like her too!

Webini, I feel your pain. Mines still in the early project stages but I have to put it away for the winter so I can park my driver in the garage. I put it away Thursday night and I don't know what the hell to do with myself now since I have nothing to work on.
The only upside is now I have time to work on building a rotisserie!

I spent yesterday putting the polly to the garage floor, windows door. Tomorrow I will take her for a ride wash her and then tuck her in (unless we get a stretch of nice weather).
I've been in the car more than out of it the last three weeks - and the killer is that she has been running better with each session.
May have to heat the garage next year for some projects to keep me sane.

John
