959 4 Cam question and Horizontal Fan Shrouds?
Hey you guys, I was just on the Rennsportsystems web-page and a few things caught my eye that I was hoping you could elaborate on...
First... this is a 959 engine right? Is it a 4 cam? Is the design a throwback to the early Fuhrman engines? Are there any others like this? Also, here's a flat-six with a horizontal shroud. I know that some of the early Spyders used horizontal shrouds, but I've never seen one in a 911. I really like the concept and was wondering if any of you have had any exposure to them. Pros, cons, etc. They seem to me like a more effecient cooling system. Thanks! |

Do a search on "horizontal fan" and you'll get lots of info.
Very expensive using original parts ... if they can be found.

horizontal fan uses up to 35 HP
was used on some 935 variants...provides better , more equal cooling over the 6 cyllinders

Yes I am pretty darn sure that is a 959 engine. The new water cooled engines also use 4 cams but the 959 was the only air cooled 4cam engine but I believe the heads were water cooled.
