Removing AC, is the fluid corrosive?
Wondering if the AC fluid will harm the paint or metal.
Carefully removing the system from an '80 SC. Regards, Markus |

No, it's not. And, if you can remove it (hoses, compressor, evaporators, little evap blower motors etc) without destroying it, please email me. My email is the same as my yahoo ID.
I might be interested in purchasing parts if they're compatible with my 84 system, which is no longer in the car. Thanks.

Oil
Markus,
When I removed mine the freon had already leaked out. The only thing remaining is oil in the lines and compressor. I don't think there is anything special about the oil, it's pretty thick stuff. No unique concerns related to corrosion that I'm aware of. Something to keep in mind: The oil pools at the lowest points in your system - the lines from front to rear. I didn't have any oil leaks when I removed the system from my car, but failed to consider there might be some oil remaining in the lines. I left them sitting on my garage floor overnight and found a big puddle of oil under them the next day. May want to bag them or hang somewhere to let them run into a bucket. Gordo
