Better mpg
I'm not really sure what caused my fuel efficiency to increase but now I'm getting almost 19 mpg in my SC. My driving habits haven't changed. I haven't done any long distance trips, mostly in-town. Ever since I replaced my air filter (not dirty but was a year old), changed oil and filter (5000 miles old), added air to tires as they were a little underinflated and replaced my clutch cable and adjusted free play, I've been averaging between 18 - 20 mpg. Before I'd be lucky to get 15 - 16. Not a marked improvement but due to the high cost of gas, I'll take it. What do you think made the biggest difference?

air filter and more air pressure in the tires.

I am currently running about 40 PSI in my car tires. I get an extra 1.5 MPG maybe more out of it. When it rains, you gotta be extra careful as the tires are quite slippery.

Yeah, but mostly the air in the tires.
|
Wow, Indigowhale, is that 40 psi hot or cold? I assume cold. That's a ton of air.
|
That's 40 cold in the Benz, not the 911. I am watching the thread wear carefully. Not exceeding the max tire pressure though...
|
Your lucky, I get about 8-10 mpg.
