I trying to get my 72 Back together, and now I need some help.
I pluged all the wires in to what I thought was the correct spots but nothing is working corectly. So if ya'll can look at you wires, It will help. First if you go in to the trunk and follow the wire loom up , there is a spot were the wires become plugs. Then from the plug the switchs from inside the cab plug in . There are 5 plugs; Two on the top and three below them . There are also some relays in that same corner. I need to know what switch is pluged in to what plug. So if you numbered the plugs from the inside of the trunk, from left to right you have #1 and #2 on the top Then #3 and #4 and #5 . Currently I have the following pluged in #1= Hazards #2=Head Light switch #3= ignition switch #4= turn switch #5=wiper switch Now each of the above switchs have wires going to other places , but most of there wires go to a plug. These plugs are all the same for the most part. This is what is happening A. I can prees the hazard and the flash B. Turn the turn signal and the side light up , but does not flash C. Turn the ignition switch and the control wine in the engine bay, but will not turn over. D. No dash light come on E. Fuel guage lights up, and shows no fuel F. Alt light up and beeps Thanks for the help I know it is a PITA to get up munder there and look at the wires. here is the project http://www.356-911.com/911restogallery/derekoxford911.htm

All you have to do is look under the dash , and see where the wires are pluged in..

Sorry I can't look under the dash; car is 1000 miles away in northern California. However from my wiring diagram information it appears 1, 2 and 3 (hazard, light and ignition switches) are plugged into the correct places; no info on 4 and 5 but given the clues you provide they may also be correct.
Other points: B. Ignition switch has to be in the "on or run" position for turn signals to flash; otherwise they just light and stay lit to that side even if one removes the key. C. The CDI box whine is correct but the starter will not turn over unless both 14-pin connectors are connected in the engine compartment as the yellow control wire to the starter solenoid passes through both in the 1973 MFI cars. One 14-pin connector is forward of the electrical chassis (driver's side of the engine compartment) and connects the electrical chassis into the body wiring harness. The second 14-pin connector is on the rear of the electrical chassis and connects to the wiring harness going to the engine (yellow wire to solenoid goes through engine wiring harness). D. Try turning the light switch knob to change the rheostat (dash light dimmer) and increase the voltage to the dash lights. E. Low of fuel; light is low fuel light? Level sender may be broken or gummed up if car has sat for a long time. F. Alt light should light with ignition on and engine not running; don't know what beep is - seat belt buzzer? Cheers, Jim |

Jim,
thanks again, i should have just written...Jim can you help with this. The low fuel is correct becuase there is no fuel in the car. The dim switch well that is a no brainer. It looks like I have the wires correct. I never had the car working so I have no Idea what to look for. Well almost there. Thanks
