Targa pin condom part numer, please
Does anybody know the part numer for the front targa top pin condom (ie the plastic skin)? I have only found the whole pin's number which should be 911.565.215.40 but I think the plastic cover may be obtainable separately as the rear pin overcasts were.
Thanks for help. ![]() |

I looked thru my receipts and found The Pelican part # C-565-217-40 Targa Roof Pin Cover, 911 (74-85). That was 2 years ago, my how time flies!

Thanks, Rick, but the part number you gave me is the rear facing pin cover. (The one you insert in the targa bow). I need the cover for the front pin facing downwards and inserting in the windshield frame. It looks a bit different I think as the one has three circular nothes and the front has only one.
I have also noticed that they superceded the part number I gave you first, the up-to-date part number is 911.565.074.40 and called as "fixing bolt" - but this refers to the whole pin (or just the metal part), but I need just the plastic part. |

The plastic cover has never been available as a separate part, or even shown in the factory parts catalogs ... and the pin in your pic has been superceded by one a bit longer with a black plastic cover that is a bit harder on the Durometer scale than the clear ones.
911.565.074.40

I replaced a missing rear pin cover with a piece of clear pvc tubing of the appropriate diameter. Worked like a charm and no more sqeaks. I don't know if it would work as well with the front ones, because they are a little different, but its worth a try. You could always bevel the leading edge so it doesn't get caught up when installing the roof.

A Pelicanite in the area used the plastic tips off 2 caulk tubes as an inexpensive alternate.

Thanks, guys. I thought I'd try some alternative, too. Let me inform you how this works but I guess we'll need to wait till Spring as my Porsche is already sleeping in winter dormancy like a bear. :-)

You might try contacting Dan Petchel (sp!) at carsinc - he posts here frequently and is known as THE targa top guy around. He might have the cover for you or direct you to a source.
good luck
