Exclamation Adding A/C to a Car

Greetings all, I'm new to this message board and am contmeplating a 911 purchase. Can any one give me an idea of what's involved in adding A/C to say a '76 911 that doesn't have it. The engine in the car once had A/C ( i think) but the car itself isn't plummed for it. Any help or suggestions appreciatted.
Phil

Contact Scott's Independent. They're the experts at adding a/c to a P-car. Be prepared for sticker shock, though.

Good luck.

I put a system back into a '76 that had received a dealer hack job A/C installation. Moved the lines to driver's side (because I also installed an external oil cooler) and made numerous other improvements including upgrading the compressor using Griffith's compressor kit. If you DIY (and can borrow a lot of tools and equipment such an A/C hose fitting crimper, A/C harness and vacuum pump) and can get some parts used (I found a complete NOS dealer after market kit from 1976) you may get by with a $1500 cost but upgrading all the important parts and doing it well DIY may approach $2500. Do a search on Jim's name and you'll find pages and pages of really helpful tips. I cut and pasted many of them into a Word document and then printed them out. Lots and lots of tidbits.
