Unhappy Help - no wipers

My wipers packed it in on the way home tonight. (87' Coupe) Had them on intermittent and they stopped. The controls on the stalk wouldn't work at any speed either.

Did a quick search but couldn't find a relevant thread. Any ideas. Fuse, relay? Which fuse controls the wipers? The legend that came on the fuse box cover is gone. Would like to fix in the AM as we are in the rain till next June. Any help appreciated.

Thanks,
Jorian

Check the fuse box first. I don't remember which fuse but it will be obvious since it will be the one burned out.

Having said that, if a fuse is out then you have to find the cause.

I had this problem and found it to be the rear wiper had a short and was causing it to blow the fuse.

It could also be in the stalk.

Send me a PM with your email addr...I scanned my legend into a PDF. You can print it and stick it in the glovebox. I have 88 Cab for reference.

Joe,

Is your wiper motor 85-89'? According to Pelican this is what I need.

Thanks.

Rain X or simply waxing your windshield will make wipers almost unnecessary.

Jon,

Thanks for the reply. Your preaching to the choir. Been using RainX for years. Great stuff. That's why I was only using the intermittent setting for the wipers.

Jorian.

Jorian, before you replace the motor make sure that is what you need. I thought mine was bad too and I removed the whole assembly from the car and then bench tested it by putting 12v to it and it worked fine. It is more likely in the wiring than the motor.

I am following this because I was driving the other night in heavy rain. Three times the wipers would stop at almost vertical up the windshield. I had them on intermittent. Then for some reason there would reset to their parked position. Then I would turn the intermittent knob and they would go then stop at vertical. The fuse is fine.
