911 Makes Forbes List of Fastest Cars

Forbes Magazine just came out with an article on the fastest 0-60 production cars based on price range. The 2005 Carrera topped the list in the $70-80,000 range. Here's the list.


$20,000 - $30,000 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution RS
4.4 sec.

$30,000 - $40,000 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution MR (tie)
Subaru Impreza WRX STi (tie)
4.7 sec.

$40,000 - $50,000 Chevrolet Corvette coupe
4.1 sec.

$50,000 - $60,000 Chevrolet Corvette convertible
4.8 sec.

$60,000 - $70,000 Mercedes-Benz SLK55 AMG
4.9 sec.

$70,000 - $80,000 Porsche 911 Carrera SRS
4.6 sec.


$80,000 - $90,000 Dodge Viper SRT-10
3.9 sec.

$90,000 - $100,000 Maserati Spyder Cambiocorsa (tie)
Panoz Esperante (tie)
4.9 sec.

$100,000 - $250,000 Ford GT
3.3 sec.

$250,000 and above Saleen S7

I remember reading car magazines when I was a kid and thinking how 0-60 in 6 seconds was so fast! Looks like about 4.5 seconds is the new performance standard. That's just sick.

I guarantee you that a powerful electric motor based hot rod will bring a big decrease in 0-60 times.

Electric motors make their max. torque at or near stall (0 rpm). Think about that one....
