Shifter Kit

I already have a weltmeister short shifter kit on my car and I really enjoy it, but I am rather disapointed in shift feel. I also don't want to destroy my transmission any time soon. I have been looking into shift kits and I have found several options of varying prices, I was wondering what experiences people have had with the various kits. I would prefer to spend less money (of course!), but I would rather just pay the money and get something that works really well instead of paying less and getting something that is only decent. The most expensive kit I have seen is the wevo kit, I have also seen the kit from Rennshift and Seine Systems. I read some good reviews here of the seine systems kit. What experiences have people had with any of these kits? I am particularly interested in how they stack up against eachother because I am trying to decide if performance justifies the extra cost of the Rennshift or Wevo kit.

WEVO www.wevo.com

I don't own one yet, but sampled one at the GAF last month: it's not until you actually play with one that you realise how good and well made it is.

Jss22,
There are different price points on these products. From $150 all the way to $1500. Here are some links for your review:

Just installed Sherwoods shift gate..

Anyone using the Seine Systems gate shift kit?

BTW, the links might be slanted toward the Gate Shift kit. What can I say?

John,
Excuse me? I'll take that as a double-entendre.

Do all your coupler adjustments PRIOR to installation of the Seine kit.

If you need to tweek it afterwords just be sure to mark everything (sharpe marker on the shaft) carefully.

Oh yea, it's just a little bag of parts so don't feel cheated when you get it. Once installed it makes a larger than life improvement.

Does this kit reduce throw or just make everything more precise? If I install this WITHOUT the Weltmeister short shift kit, will I still get a reduction in throw?

Rick,
Our kit does NOT reduce the throw distance between gears. However, our Gate Shift kit provides spring-loaded tactile feedback for all gear positions, and that in itself makes shifting more precise and less of a guess. It works with or w/o the factory short shift kits as well as Weltmeister and other aftermarket SS kits.

It sure would be nice to have all these options lined up at various shows somewhere to be tested and compared.

Thumbs up

Rennshift by jwest enginnering is a more affordable alternative to Wevo.

It feels great smilar to Wevo.

Our host Pelican sells them as well.

My 915 shifter in the ST was really sloppy, even after new bushings and adjusting via the bolt on the front. I took it out and rebuilt it per the instructions on Sherwoods site. I would like one of his systems but its outside the budget right now.

Now its like a whole new shifter. I don't have trouble finding 3rd anymore. Of course, if this was a 901 I wouldn't have this problem.

WEVO, best thing I ever did, works well and looks great. I had a factory short shift and had tried a couple of the other add-ons. The WEVO won out because it is complete as it replaces the whole shifter and as always with WEVO it is well designed and very well made.

Just my $.02 or actually a bit more than that
