Ventilation System Control

G'day All,

I live in Brisbane, Australia and have just recently purchased the old 1974 911 Porsche Carrera Targa that was originally owned by Sonny Bono.

I'm in the process of getting it back to pristine condition and in doing so I need to get behind the Ventilation System slider controls to look at the fan switch as it only sometimes works.

Would someone please tell me or show me how to get the control face plate off/out of the dash?

Many thanks and best regards,

There's a single screw that holds it in place. You have to lay on your back looking up under the dash to get to it unless you can do it by feel. My recollection is that it requires some wrist contortion and a stubby screwdriver to reach it.

Document with pictures what you you are doing if you don't mind. I would be interested in seeing your progress and what you do with the heater. I will soon being doing the same to my 77.

fwiw.. the vent motor in the trunk is unfused and a plug is under the plastic housing. It's a pia to get to and the plug male&female should be clean. My plug was/is broken by a previous alarm installer, I think.
