Final (I hope) Recaro questions!!!
I've decided on the leather Recaro PP's.
Now about the installation. I am 6'2", with a long upper body and short legs. I have about an inch of headroom in the Targa with the seat upright (track position). If I get the Recaro side brackets and sliders, will that negate all the seat dropping that comes with the Pole Position seat? I really don't want to bolt the seat to the floor. I like the plain looks of the Speedware brackets, but it looks like the Recaro brackets may offer more adjustments. If I get the Recaro brackets, I will paint them black. Any final thoughts before I write a really big check?

Moses my 2 cents fwiw. It sounds like we have similar body shapes.
I have one seat on OEM sliders and Speedware mounts. It is about the same as an SRD was may be a bit better. But still not good enough to be comfortable on the track in a helmet. Much as I don't like the driver's seat being bolted to the floor it is the most comfortable position for height in my sun roof coupe. For the $100 a set of Speedware mounts cost compared to the full meal deal from Ricaro I would buy Speedware's and try out all the mounting options first. Best part was my perfect driving driving position for length was mounting directly to the origianal mounts on the floor. Almost like the seat and car were designed that way ![]() Good luck, you'll love the seats! Jack Olsen should be getting a percentage from Ricaro. They were the first ones I saw. |

You may want to move your DME if it's under the seat. With a little fabrication, you can get the seats very low with the side mounts, and then rock the seat back to accomodate long torso and short legs.

Jack O's were also the first ones that I saw, which prompted me to buy them as well, tho mine's not covered in bling bling leather ![]()

I have the DME under my seat, with Cobra side brackets and one-off adapters to stock early sliders. I've got plenty of room, but I'm only 5'11''.

First the 3.6, 'cause I had serious BBI envy, now the seats. Then Bill starts talkin' about brakes. I CAN'T STOP! (At least it's not heroin) ![]()

I am not sure about the specific model of Recaro you want to use, but I know on older Recaro models you can use the stock Porsche sliders. They line right up to the Recaro bolt holes.

Too big to fail

I wonder if there's some sort of industry standard for seats. My ricer neighbor bought some cheapie no-name 'race' seats which came without brackets, and my Recaro brackets bolted right up to both his seat and to his Honduh.

Anyhow, if I did it again, I would use Recaro mounts simply because it all bolts straight up to their sliders and the seat and you are good to go - no hassle. When I did my install I found it all but impossible to get this kind of helpful info (yes, I did ask on this board ![]() To the question ! My experience is in comparison to the late 3.2 sport seats with electric height adjustment. The PPs end up in a similar position to the sport seats in their lowest position. I say "similar" because I never measured how much lower. They are definately a little lower - perhaps 0.5-1.0 inch lower. As I am only 5'9" it wasn't an issue for me. Perhaps a better data point is that I have had passengers of a similar height to you, who have managed to fit in with no obvious contortions while wearing helmets. I also have a sunroof. I think you could easily drill extra mount holes in the side mount to effectively lower the seats further, but you then have an issue with the side mounts fouling the seat belt slot in the side of the seat. Not insurmountable but a problem nonetheless. One more piece of helpful info. If you plan to run ordiary belts (in conjunction to a harness for example for use on the road) then you may be left with no easy way of mounting the centre belt receptacles (YMMV in an SC - I can't remember). You can buy a 964RS bracket that fixes this. I have part numbers somewhere if anyone is interested. HTH Richard ![]() |

This picture will hopefully show how much room a tall person (about 6'1") has in my car.

Sometimes I think the heroin would be cheaper.
