No Factory Chin Spoler Installed?

My '78SC has a factory Sport Option (turbo tail, 16" wheels, Bilsteins) but no chin spoiler. No holes, nothing to indicate one was ever installed.
I reviewed a lot of previous posts on this subject and realize that I should put one on, but it seems hard to believe that such a thin piece of rubber/plastic can make that much difference.
Am I correct in the chin spoiler being the thin strip of material under the valance?
Any particular brand or price info appreciated.

do you have documentation showing that the '78 came from the factory with a turbo tail??

That seems very unusual.

No documentation. Previous owner told me about the option. Maybe dealer install? (Forgot fog lights came with this option also.) Might be wrong on this, but even if a dealer installed, you would think the chin spoiler would have come with it.
Still, the problem exists.
Interesting reading on a previous thread about factory window stickers showing what Porsche shipped and what were options:

If you have a tail then you should run the front lip spoiler.

Well, that's what I've read anyway. And I can't remember if I read it in Pano or Excellence or a Porsche book. Apparently Porsche engineers did quite a bit of testing of their front and rear spoilers. Not having a lip spoiler but having a tail can lead to instability at high speed is what I remember reading.

I installed a lip spoiler on my 78 targa (but no tail). I can't say that I felt a difference but I thought it did look nice. Basically requires drilling some holes in the front valance.

Pelican has them:

Or you can buy used, perhaps try parts heaven.

Basic aerodynamics. You really need the chin spoiler if you plan to drive more than 55 mpg. What brand? Get the Porsche factory one. The fit will make the installation life a lot better and the quality will stand up better it it gets tagged on a curb or stray squirrel that decides to go suicidal.
