Second Porsche syndrome...

Just feel like ranting.

Not a month after I had finished my mod. wish list on my already-perfect 993, I trashed it on the track. She will look better than new when I get her back in a few weeks. But I couldn't wait, and so I jumped on a super deal on a near concourse '83 SC, which will soon be my track car. I've had her less than two weeks and so far have done the following:

- installed lexan covers on my H4's
- John Walker's Workshop license plate frame
- completely deleted perfectly working a/c
- installed numerical temp gauge and sensor
- changed oil
- replaced lower valve cover gaskets
- applied "Carrera" side script

In my garage awaiting install or in the mail are:

- turbo tie rods
- factory short shift kit and bushings
- Kstylianos brass coupler bushings
- heat backdating ducts
- fuel filter
- "SCWDP" vanity license plate
- ATE Blue
- strut brace
- Momo shift knob

Soon to be procured:

- hollow front and rear larger t-bars
- poly suspension bushings all around
- Bilstein HD's and Sports
- larger sway bars and bushings (probably SmartRacing)
- track seats and harnesses
- roll bar

This car is eating me alive! Someone save me from myself. Gawd, I love this car. Forgot to take photos of the Carrera side script, but it totally transformed the car. Nothing looks better with a ducktail than the script. Oh, it's great to be alive!

What are you ranting about? Sounds to me like you're doing exactly what you want. Good for you.

Yeah, Jim, and now you're Porsche-less for months because you took a PERFECT '73E and are now doing the MacDaddy of all mods AFTER you sold your 993. Why do I get pinned with the gratuitous mods. award, when you're outdoing all mine with one single project? If I sold the 993, I'd have to get another 911 right away. I always have to have one running.

"near concourse '83 SC".."- applied "Carrera" side script".....

Glad to see this post. I was wondering if it was 'applicable' to apply Carrera script to an SC. Had always thought SC stood for Super Carrera. Love the look.

My mods are HP, handling, braking and safety systems for the track, while maintaining it's outward stock appearance. Gratuitous?

You are right that being Porsche-less for a few months sucks. But I wouldn't drive it much during the winter anyway. Salted roads are bad for it.

You're out of control Rick. Full-on Porsche junkie.

Here's a tip to save you from yourself. Forego the hollow bars and just get solid ones. IMO, while cool to say you've got them, I think the hollow bars are just extra $ spent without any real benefit. Okay, they save a few pounds. Wear lighter shoes and take a dump before you hit the track and you can call it a draw.

Oh yeah, one more thing....................

Thanks for your....er...."fiduciary" advice, Kev. I'm sorry about lack of photos. I don't get home before it's dark out and my garage is too small to get any kind of side shot. I will get photos on Turkey Day.

Rick--

Nice of you to post this updated definition of LeSchanderitis. You are an inspiration to all of us who show our love for our cars by personalizing them and driving them hard. Did you go with the black side script? I'd like to see that on a red coupe. Hate to encourage the progression of you disease, but how about a ducktail for that baby?

Dan, yes, it was the black script and it just looks so awesome. Car already has a ducktail, which is just icing on the cake. Below is the only photo I have of her on this computer and it's before I put the script on.

Yup - that's how mine looks now, except for the horn grills and bumpers.

Beautiful. Maybe a RS-style bumper to go with the duck?

Wow! Nice looking longhood Chad.

RL bought a real nice car, for an SC. We'll see him go wild over the coming months prepping that sweet ride for some serious flogging on the track. Then he can resume "pimping his 993 ride" with reckless abandon.

Hey hey hey now. I have to take up for my SCWDP brethren. Remember the long hoods are in the minority in our area. As Pari would say "you're outgunned muhuhuhahahahahahahh.
"

...or something like that.
