What is that "rotary dial thing" on my fuel line?
Hi,
I got this sitting right between the fuel filter and the carbs of my 69T. I have no idea what it is...it is currently set to position 2...why not? Should it be set another position? ![]() Thanks for the help. PS: I am currently rebuilding my interior (have to be done by Turkey day...promised my wife...) and will post pics and history then.

Thanks guys!
I will change the setting during lunch break! The next best thing after owning a Porsche...is the Logging to the Pelican BBS! (The whole thing being ranked after my wife and son, of course)

When you change the fuel pressure your float level will change, it is a good idea to set the pressure and then check the float bowl level.
Some people adjust the level by making changes in the pressure, not a good thing. |

Last thoughts on this
- Can this affect gas-mileage? It is not an issue, but 15mpg seems a lot, and not right. I am an engineer, and like to have things right.
- Can it affect iddle? Thanks again.

Hey,
THe numbers on the dial do NOT necessarily indicate the resulting fuel pressure, as they were generic. The result pressure depends on the input pressure and depending on what fuel pump you have, could vary. Also and MOST IMPORTANTLY, there are a number of instances of FAILURE and FIRE ![]()

I'd replace that unit with a higher quality one and add a pressure gauge. I researched pressure regulators when I was doing carbs and was advised that the one you have pictured is not dependable, leaks, fires etc. I went with a Holley regulator and gauge. Works very well.

I got the Holley and guage, but the pressure will change unexpectedly: set at 3.5lbs and an hour later it's 1 to 7. I'd recommed the PMO.

....or just get a pump that outputs 3-4 psi. No FPR needed. I use a pump manufactured by Airtex. The system works just fine w/o a regulator.

My first holley pressure guage was faulty. Was showing very low presuure and was not responsive to changes in the regulator setting. I returned it and the second one worked like a champ. It is possible that they suffer from poor quality control. I have a very well built older pressure gauge that I was using as a reference unit.

Holley parts
c911s,
If you are asking about the Holley parts, i'll have to go out to the garage or to their website to answer properly. It's been too long. Here is a pic to tide you over. Not a great pic, but maybe you can identify from the pic and website. P.S Zefreds: I don't mean to hijack, but i think the original question was answered and spawned additional questions. ![]()
