Fuel Pump Wire Continuity

Have experienced a no-start in my 1980SC Euro, and traced it to the fuel pump. New relay did not solve, and jumping power to the #30 lead on the relay socket did not run the pump. Eventually found a discontinuity from the #30 socket to the pump.

The wiring diagram shows this wire to be continuous from the relay socket to the pump, without any connectors or splices of any kind. There is no obvious damage or breakage in the wire. The wire is protected by a sheath from the pump to the fuse box in the trunk. No chafing or pinching detectable. So that leaves the terminal in the socket, which is completedly encased in a large rubber "container" which makes access to the individual terminals almost impossible.

Anyone run into this before? If so, what did you find and what did you do to fix it?

New sockets are available from Pelican; splice into wiring harness using solder and shrink tubing electrical insulation. Jim

Could this be the culprit of my start problem??

Thanks, Jim -- spot on as usual. I cannot see any obvious damage at the socket and the #30 terminal is bright and clean, but it is clear that the socket is where the problem is.
