Should I also remove fuel Injection? I have engine out of the car...

I have a 72 T 2.4 MFi.

I pulled the engine last week. I'm going to replace the clutch and a variety of other things. I also pulled the MFI pump to replace a few seals on the pump. I'm planning on pulling the fuel injectors and having the spray pattern checked as well.

Should I remove the entire fuel injection? I already have the fuel lines off. I'm wondering if it makes sense to yank off the entire fuel injection. This would allow me to clean up any junk that is sitting on top of the cylinders and oil cooler, oil, leaves, who knows what. It would also give me the opportunity to either paint the fiberglass shroud or replace it with one in better condition. One of the projects I'm working on is a engine and engine compartment detail.

I have not removed the fuel injection before. It looks like I just need to take off 2 nuts per cylinder. Can I remove the entire thing, both sides in a single piece? It looks like I can but I wanted to ask. Anything else I should know before I go a step further down the road?

Thanks,
Ian

Ian,

The injection stacks come off pretty easy. If you have the lines off you can easliy remove the rest.
If you clean the top of your motor it will assist in a cooler running motor.

The stacks come off each side. Don't forget to mark where each rod goes so they go back in the same way. Saves on further adjustment. if you take the manifolds off I would suggest you get new gaskets to ensure you don't have any air leaks.

Regards

Michael
