Early Blue 911 color

My car is the same color as the blueish purple car shown here (closest one). Does anyone know the name of this color? Where can I find the paint code?

It looks like Albert blue. But its hard to tell with that lighting.

Don't you have the paint code on the driver's hinge post?

I'm kind of curious, too. It's hard to tell if our cars are the same color from the photos, but they do look close. I'm not sure that mine is an original color.

I've seen pictures of Albert Blue and I don't think that is it. This blue is a little more purpleish. I'm going to check the code tonight.

This first pic is my car Phoenix. It's Oxford Blue sometimes called Dalmation Blue. The paint code is 329-9-02.

It does change color in different lighting conditions. When I first bought the car it was a little too purple due to a badly color matched respray. When I had the interior redone, we matched the color based on what we found under the panels. Interior and exterior are now an exact match.

Last year at Hershey another '73 which was also Dalmation Blue parked next to me (same paint code) and the two colors were identical.

Hope this helps... Oliver

Tom--
the paint code is usually on a sticker on the underside of the front hood. also, there is paint code plate on the right side of the trunk, near the hood shock (at least on my '85)

if you find the paint code then we can decipher it and tell you what the car originally was painted.

Yep I agree it's Oxford Blue / Dalmation Blue 329-9-02.

Albert blue is a little darker.

Tom, on the forward drivers door jamb there is a metal plate with the word "Kunstharzlack" and a number. That number is the paint code.

In Europe at least 1818 was Albert Blau (blue). Check on the Early 911S Registry (.org). There is a post with links to color sites.

hope that helps!

Tom,

The car in your photo looks the same colour as mine - code 329 See Blau (Sea Blue). Mine's a 73, European.

Have a look at this picture of my car in bright sunlight.

Here's my search for the paint code.

Regards
Pete
